SANTA MONICA STAIRS.

It had been around 8 years since i had been back to the Santa Monica stairs and i always loved making this part of my weekly workout routine. I remember working out on my own and with clients and without a doubt each and every one of us felt it the next day, as i did this time..

It is so good to mix up your workouts, your mind and body will respond in such a positive way.

Of course if you have injuries/restrictions that only allow certain exercise options you should always stay within those boundaries, but if that is not the case try stepping out of your comfort zone once in a while.

Here are a few suggestions... Find a hill in your area that you can walk up and down, give yourself a length of time to do this for or on shorter hills pick a number for how many times you will do this... On the treadmill you can play with your grade/incline to challenge yourself...Find some stairs in your neighborhood to climb... walk at a slightly faster pace....the list is endless, but please stay hydrated, listen to your body and if you have any discomfort, fatigue or dizziness stop and rest, Remember tomorrow is another day.

WAKEY, WAKEY, RISE"N"SHINE! The importance of a good night's sleep

GOOD MORNING!

Some mornings are just easier to get up than others. For me, it's usually because I stayed up too late the night before. This is because I get caught up binge-watching television shows on Netflix, always watching the next episode to see what happens and before I realize it's midnight, 4 hours and 40 minutes before my alarm is due to go off for another beautiful day! But, feeling exhausted is no way to start the day.

You would think this would be an easy fix. But, apparently not as this has been going on for quite some time with shows like, Dexter, Breaking Bad, The Inbetweeners, White Collar, Gotham, Ugly Betty, Sons of Anarchy, Daredevil, well i'm sure that you get the picture. Thoroughly enjoying each and every one of them either on my own or with Jack or Georgia.

I am writing this as I know things have to change! Lack of sleep can and will affect your life in so many ways, and none being positive. Low energy, lack of patience, bad decisions, finding it hard to focus, being moody, exhaustion and headaches are a few that spring to mind.

So it is time for change.

Starting tonight it is early to bed! Let's see how how things are going in a week... and I encourage you to do the same. Let me know how things are going for you.

As my sweet Mummy would always say as she tucked me in bed, "GOODNIGHT, GOD BLESS and SWEET DREAMS"

ENJOY YOUR SURROUNDINGS!

It is so easy to get caught up in day to day life, i know that i do.

Make time each week to step away from your routine. It could be a walk around the park, going for a hike, heading to the beach,  maybe enjoying a cup of tea or coffee in the garden. For me it is going to White Rock Lake and enjoying a sunrise or sunset, which truthfully i very rarely do, always thinking that i will do it tomorrow.

Whatever it may be just take a little time for yourself, and i will too. We are worth it!!!!!!

Workout Partners

There are days when sometimes you just need that extra push, well today was one of those days, it has been a long week but i really wanted to finish with a bang.

Having a training partner to keep you accountable and push you may be all the motivation needed to get the great workout that you were striving for.

Today Renny and Preston were there for me and after seventy tough minutes we were exhausted, but wouldn't have had it any other way.

A big Thank you lads.

ENCOURAGING ONE ANOTHER

For many years I have been fortunate enough to workout with people who have come to me for help and guidance in pursuing a healthier lifestyle, and what i discovered very early on was that giving sincere encouragement is extremely important in helping them reach their goals, not only in the gym but in life.

A simple hello or smile is maybe all that is needed or letting someone know how well they are doing .

Remember that being supportive costs nothing and may be all that someone needs to hear to make them feel good about what they are doing.

Summer is on it's way....Hip,Hip Hooray!

With summer just around the corner so many people are wanting to get in shape and feel good when they are relaxing by the pool or having fun at beach. This 6 week program will get you excited and ready for action!

Changing eating habits, cardiovascular activities, and adding strength training to your daily routine will make a huge difference to how you feel. I have seen it time and time again. The key is to be realistic with the amount of time that you are willing to devote to taking care of yourself each and every week and start from there. Do not over extend yourself so that you get burnt out?Consistency is the key and once you have established a routine you can step it up accordingly.

Learning about nutrition and the importance what you are putting into your body is so important. Just think about how a car needs fuel to work properly... the body needs nutrition to function at its best.

Try not to think of it as a diet, that word always leads to failure, well it does for me, think of it as being mindful of what food choices you are making. Eating smaller portions through out the day that are well balanced "protein, carbohydrate and fat" and not letting yourself get so hungry that you want to eat the entire fridge, trust me i know and have many times.
